HOLIDAY SCHEDULE 2025 FAQ
In the U.S., people throw away 25% more trash between Thanksgiving and New Year’s than any other time of year. At TDS, we help our local Texas communities remove the additional waste created during this time and also help divert as much as we can from landfills. We also offer a free* Christmas tree recycling program that turns Christmas trees and other organic holiday decorations into nutrient-rich compost and mulch.
*Trees and decorations must be unflocked (not covered in a layer of artificial snow or frosting) and free of lights, ornaments, metal and other non-living contaminants, in order to be recycled. A $55 contamination fee will be assessed for trees and decorations that are dropped off and not free of the items listed above.

Texas Disposal Systems is closed on the following holidays:
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
- New Year’s Day
TDS is open and provides service as usual for all other holidays, including:
- Martin Luther King Jr. Day
- Presidents Day
- Easter
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day (4th of July)
- Labor Day
- Columbus Day
- Veterans Day
- Christmas Eve
- New Year’s Eve
Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if my pickup schedule falls on a holiday?
If your regular pickup day falls on a TDS holiday, service will typically slide one day. In 2025:
- Thanksgiving always falls on a Thursday, therefore service will slide forward to the following Friday. Friday service will slide to Saturday.
- Christmas Day falls on a Thursday, therefore services for the week slide forward one day. Thursday service slides to Friday. Friday service slides to Saturday. New Year’s Day falls on a Thursday, therefore services for the week slide forward one day. Thursday service slides to Friday. Friday service slides to Saturday.

How do I sign up for holiday schedule notifications?
